About Contra III: The Alien Wars
Super Contra, or Contra III The Alien Wars as it is known in North America, is a side-scrolling run-and-gun video game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1992. It is the third installment in the Contra series and a sequel to the 1988 game Super C for the NES. The game was developed by Konami and published by them in Japan, while Williams Electronics published the game in North America. Super Contra features two protagonists, Bill Rizer and Lance Bean of the crack commando unit “Contra”, who are once again called into action to stop the alien forces that are planning to invade Earth. The game is set in the year 2636, two years after the events of Super C.
Super Contra introduces a number of new gameplay mechanics and elements, including adjustable routes through stages, power-ups that can be used to change weapons mid-game, and multi-directional shooting. The game is also notable for its difficulty; while previous Contra games were challenging, Super Contra is widely considered to be one of the most difficult games ever made. As a result, it has gained a cult following among gamers who enjoy difficult games.
Despite its reputation for being difficult, Super Contra is considered one of the best games on the SNES and is fondly remembered by many gamers who grew up in the 1990s. If you’re up for a challenge and are looking for a classic SNES game to play, Super Contra is definitely worth checking out.
